Analysts have named the top three most popular female writers of the decade around the world. The books of these women are loved and read with gusto in various countries, and the heroes of their stories become favorites of the millions of public.
Top-3 was headed by the author of the series of novels “After” Anna Todd. Her works become New York Times bestsellers and are successfully filmed – in September this year, the third film based on her book will appear in theaters.
Todd managed to overtake even J.K. Rowling – it was this writer who was in second place.
Probably, there is no adult in the world who has not heard anything about Harry Potter. The boy-wizard has “raised” more than one generation of children.
His story was published in 500 million copies and launched a successful film franchise. However, the position of the writer in the literary business was slightly shaken after a series of high-profile scandals.
Rounding out the top three is E. L. James and her Fifty Shades of Gray. The hot love story of a simple girl and a millionaire is very similar to the tale of Cinderella and the prince, only the fashionable noir style today.
Perhaps that is why the audience loved her so much.
The top five also includes writer Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the bestselling books Eat Pray Love and City of Women. Closing the list is the master of detective prose, Pulitzer Prize laureate for the novel “The Goldfinch” Donna Tartt.
