The props from the set were sold for a substantial sum.

Auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll recently put up for sale an ax that was used on several scenes in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The demand for the lot exceeded all expectations.

12 people wanted to become owners of the coveted ax at once. As a result, each of them offered for him as much as he could give – and it was about tens of thousands of dollars.

Initially, the organizers of the auction thought that the ax would go under the hammer for about 60 thousand dollars. However, one businessman, who turned out to be an avid fan of Kubrick’s film, offered $140,000 for it, more than double what was expected. And taking into account the commission of the auction house, he had to pay as much as 175 thousand dollars, according to the TMZ portal.
