George Martin’s real involvement in recent seasons of Game of Thrones has been revealed. The creator of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, based on which the series was based, handed over the showrunners of the project with giblets.
As Martin said, he was often attracted to work on the first seasons of the project. The writer helped with the script, and even with the casting. However, the higher the popularity of the show, the less Martin’s involvement was, which by the end of the series almost vanished.
“By the fifth and sixth season, and especially by the seventh and eighth, I was practically overboard,” the writer admitted in an interview with the New York Times .
When asked why Martin gradually disappeared from the project, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire replied that showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss should be asked about this. By the way, they declined to comment.
