Konami has officially entered into a partnership with Layers of Fear, Observer and developer of The Medium Bloober Team which will see the two companies share “content development and knowledge exchange”. Of course, this news only fuels strong speculation that Bloober Team is working on one of the next entries in the Silent Hill series . Earlier this year, the developer said he was working on a horror game with a “very famous game publisher”. Konami fits this bill, and now here is confirmation that the two sides are working together.

Piotr Babieno, President of the Bloober team, said: “This is a historic day for me and the culmination of many years of our work. The fact that a company as renowned as KONAMI has decided to cooperate strategically with the Bloober team means that we have also joined the world leaders in gaming and have become a full partner of the main players in this market. Konami Representative Director and President Hideki Hayakawa adds, “We look forward to combining the Bloober team and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high quality content.

Another rumor that the announcement is now giving more weight to is that Konami is looking to outsource its IPs. The Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania franchises were mentioned earlier this year – with new installments still in years – but a new Silent Hill game from a “prominent Japanese developer” is supposed to be ready for a reveal this summer. Of course, Bloober Team is Polish and not Japanese, so this particular title is not the one in question. However, with today’s official update taken into account, it looks like Bloober Team could indeed produce a new Silent Hill title alongside Konami.
