In Istanbul, young Indian boxer Nikhat Zarin reached the semi-finals of the current Bosphorus boxing tournament. In the quarter-finals match, 24-year-old Nikhat defeated two-time world champion Nazim Kajibe of Kazakhstan in the 51kg weight class before beating 2019 world champion Paltseva Ekaterina of Russia in the pre -quarter-finals.

Nikhat beat his Kazakh rival Nazim by 4-1 in the quarter-finals. At the 2014 and 2016 World Championships, Nazim won the gold medal. With this victory, in the tournament, the Indian boxer confirmed at least the bronze medal. Zarine will face 2019 World Championship silver medalist Turkey Busenaz Chakiroglu in the semi-finals,

2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Gaurav Solanki also reached the semi-finals, outside of Nikhat. In the 57kg weight class, Solanki beat Aikol Mizan of Turkey. Solanki won 4-1 on the basis of technical superiority in this fight. Gaurav also confirmed at least the bronze medal as Nikhat. Gaurav will face Argentina’s Nirco Cuello in the semi-final.

Representing the sixth world champion and former Olympic bronze medalist MC Mary Kom India in the women’s 51 kg category at the Olympics, Nikhat Zarine may be in great shape right now. Mariko beat Nikhat 9–1 in the Olympic qualifying practice.

After that he did well in qualifying and also got the Olympic quota. In the Olympics, the Indian Boxing Association has a clear rule that only the boxer who obtains the quota has the chance to participate.

In the tournament, the other participating Indian boxers, Sonia Lather (57 kg), Praveen (60 kg), Jyoti (69 kg) and Shivar Thapa (63 kg) lost in the quarterfinals. In a tough match, Shiva Thapa was beaten by Hakan Dogan from Turkey.
