Bolivian Health Minister Jeyson Auza said his country is not ruling out the possibility of a border closure due to a new lineage of Covid-19 , but still on the basis of serious epidemiological reports.
In an interview with the PAT information network, Auza stressed that for the past few days, he has been carrying out an epidemiological containment plan at the border with measures to fight the pandemic.
He cited measures such as vaccination of border populations, strengthening of the health system in these areas with equipment, drugs, diagnostic tests , vaccines and specialized human resources.
According to La Razón, the minister confirmed that a decree is in preparation to consider the possibility of closing the borders, provided that epidemiological data and serious reports show the need for such a measure.
Auza’s statements came in response to requests from former government officials to close the border, mainly with Brazil, after a new strain of coronavirus was detected there.
In this regard, he said that, given the increase in cases, they are implementing an epidemiological containment plan in border areas, but on the basis of serious reports, no opinion.
